The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman has successfully wrapped up, concentrating on the burgeoning field of electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transportation. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, this event took place from July 19 to August 27 and attracted 35 young participants from various universities and colleges throughout Oman.
During the programme, attendees gained valuable insights into various aspects of electric vehicles, including the intricacies of vehicle technologies, the development of charging infrastructure, and the nuances of network planning. They also delved into the maintenance and operational aspects of electric vehicles. A significant highlight of the training was its focus on the economic advantages that electric vehicles offer and their potential role in curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
Workshops conducted as part of the programme addressed environmental challenges and sustainability principles, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These sessions were designed not only to educate but also to engage participants in activities that encouraged them to develop practical solutions tailored to local environmental requirements.
This training programme aligns with Oman’s broader strategic goals of advancing sustainable transportation solutions and striving towards carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By equipping young men and women with the necessary skills and knowledge, the initiative aims to foster a generation that is well-prepared to drive the nation towards a more sustainable future.
