Kuwait and Iraq have taken a significant step towards resolving long-standing bilateral issues by agreeing to establish a joint working team. During a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al Zaidi decided on this collaborative approach.
The primary goal of the newly formed team is to review the outstanding issues between the two nations, develop a comprehensive roadmap for their resolution, and submit recommendations to both countries’ leadership within 30 days. This initiative marks a crucial effort in addressing and potentially resolving several unresolved matters that have lingered between Kuwait and Iraq.
The joint team is set to conduct meetings alternately in Kuwait and Baghdad and will continue its work until the completion of its mandate. Both nations have expressed their support for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and partnership.
This development underscores the countries’ dedication to fostering a constructive dialogue and enhancing bilateral relations. The successful resolution of these issues could lead to improved diplomatic ties and increased collaboration in various sectors, benefiting both Kuwait and Iraq.
